Uncle Tom's Cabin Historical Site contains items and documents commemorates the life of Reverend Josiah Henson. Henson worked as a slave for 41 years and escaped to Upper Canada in 1830 through the Underground Railroad. Over the next couple of years Henson contributed to the anti-slavery movement and eventually opened a refuge and a school for former slaves.
